Amy has been suffering with Dystonia since the Summer of 2005, a mere 3 months after she and her husband Silas ™ met. Together, they are very strong. However, Dystonia has proven to be much stronger than the power of two people and two decent incomes. The medical community is not as nearly aware and proactive as they should be, and that needs to change! We need your help in aiding this couple in their fight against a disorder that affects over 300,000 Americans, with countless others going undiagnosed.

Dystonia is a movement disorder that causes the muscles to contract and spasm involuntarily. The neurological mechanism that makes muscles relax when they are not in use does not function properly. Opposing muscles often contract simultaneously as if they are "competing" for control of a body part. The involuntary muscle contractions force the body into repetitive and often twisting movements as well as awkward, irregular postures.

there was a big fight and much crying, yelling, tension, finger pointing and drama after school yesterday at my mom's when my nephews arrived there after school...

involving 2 candy lollypop rings, one green, one red. they both wanted the red one and when Sam (the oldest) took it from Jack, the green one got (accidentally?) smashed onto the sidewalk. they arrived home, both crying, screaming and arguing. AUGH!

cupcakes were distributed and peace was restored.

then we played kickball in the front yard.

For IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ULTRAVIOLET BRINGS LOCAL BANDS AND ARTISTS TOGETHER TO FIGHT RARE GENETIC DISEASE
Concert, Compilation CD and Art Show to Raise Money for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

DALLAS TX – APRIL 17, 2008 – Local bands and artists are using their talents to take a stand against the rare disease, Cystic Fibrosis.
On the evening of Saturday, April 26, eight bands will take the stage at Club Dada in Dallas for The UltraViolet Rock Show benefit concert and art auction.

The date will also mark the release of UltraViolet, a CD compilation featuring 21 tracks from Sebadoh, Deep Blue Something, Tim DeLaughter (The Polyphonic Spree), Baboon, all artists performing and more. Many of the tracks are previously unreleased or brand new for the compilation. Thanks to the donation of manufacturing from Crystal Clear and Sam Paulos, all proceeds from the sale of the CD will go direct to the CF Foundation.

Suggested cover is $5 and the line-up includes El Gato, Lovie, Wonderfool, Bridges and Blinking Lights, Sunward, The Felons, Blue Petal, disconnected in '73.

The cause is personal for Kirk Dixon (El Gato) and Rebecca Dixon (Lovie). Their youngest daughter, Violet, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was a toddler. "The research being done by The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is helping improve the lives and the outlook for CF patients like Violet," says Rebecca Dixon. "The CF Foundation has already made such an impact in the quality of Violet's life, we wanted to gather our friends from the local music and art communities to support The Foundation's work."

Along with the live music, The UltraViolet Rock Show will feature an auction of paintings and photography from over 40 local artists including Ange Fitzgerald, Erica Fellicella, Frank Campagna and Fred Holston.

And what's a good party without take home goodies? You can commemorate the evening in Hal Samples' Cash-And-Carry Photo Booth.

The show will be the first time that the UltraViolet CD will be available for purchase. A complete track listing for the CD can be viewed at http://www.myspace.com/ultraviolet_rockforcf.

In 2007, the inaugural UltraViolet event raised $10,000 for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please join us as we come together for a good time in the name of supporting a worthy cause.

If you'd like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Kirk or Rebecca, please e-mail rebecd@verizon.net

*please be sure to drop by and see me in the green room at dada for a free hug and to (silently) bid on the truckloads and truckloads of AMAZING ART...all graciously donated by the fantastic and terribly creative people listed below.

weddings make me nervous

I probably shouldn't admit this here but I hate shooting weddings.
I agree to do them for friends. sometimes.
I get so jumpy, uptight and apprehensive, I'm worse than the bride (or groom).
there's just so much pressure and I always think I'm going to do a horrible job and worry that these people (usually friends whom I know & love dearly) who have trusted me w/ their memories will end up with terrible photographs to immortalize the most important day of their lives.
Last Saturday night was a double whammy because I had been illin' serious w/ a chest cold from hell and one of those rack-your-body type of coughs that had been keeping me down and out for the count since thursday.
LUCKILY, i have amazing, brilliant & talented friends who were available to be my assists this weekend at the Dallas Aquarium for Gracie & Jay.
so Zack & Glo - GRAZIE. I heart the heck outta you both. you rock. like slayer. (darling GLO thanks also for running to the CVS to get me cold meds and cough drops. xx!)

Gracie & Jay - you are inspiring and beautiful. the obvious love you have for each other illuminates the particles of air around each of you. it's like...magic.
thank you for allowing me to share in the first day of your "officially-hitched" life together! it didn't hurt... much.
:)
LOVE!
(and be kind to the animals damn it or Gracie will kick your ass!)

PS!
James popped the question!
Kimberly said YES!
so they're up next.
and yes, I'll be there to shoot it...with butterflies in my gut and love in my heart.

I have found what you are like

i have found what you are like
the rain,

Who feathers frightened fields
with the superior dust-of-sleep. wields

easily the pale club of the wind

and swirled justly souls of flower strike

the air in utterable coolness

deeds of green thrilling light
with thinned

newfragile yellows

lurch and.press

-in the woods
which
stutter
and

sing

And the coolness of your smile is
stirringofbirds between my arms;but
i should rather than anything
have (almost when hugeness will shut
quietly) almost,
your kiss

hugeness will shut quietly
